Brown Paper Packages All Tied up with String

This week I had my first order in the shop for my handmade wool slippers and believe it was one of my most satisfying orders out of all of them over the past year. Something about making an item that brings comfort and gives people and item to love daily and wear that makes them feel good. Jewelry has satisfied me in that regard in some ways but it isn't fully the same. I believe that this has begun a new train of thought and is going  to influence my next few items into bring more of  that feeling all of the way around (for seller and buyer). So, thank you Sarah so much for your order! I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them:).

Evening Coffee

From where I sit there's a girl in little red heels, long jacket and little brown square frames with a book out in front of her and a pen ready to underline her favorite thoughts found behind the cover and a man who was just got back from India on missions work and has formed a strange opinion of travel and is proud that he hasn't shaved in two and a half weeks exactly, hes obviously been counting although he claimed not to have noticed it. In front of me a half eaten croissant and a second americano among my C.S.  Lewis and Victor Hugo books that pile on my mind as I try to drown out the sound of the man with an itchy beard and a loose mouth about things he lacks understanding for or is a lot wiser than the average bear, he pulls in all the regulars (who arent hidding behind a book) and employees at this fine establishment, as he is in fact one of the ladder.

T h e  B i c y c l e  P r o j e c t.

A little something i like to call a project. I'm working on getting some pieces to work on my own bike- I have a frame. I know that i would like white and black tires (Road) and leather seat, handlebar grips, etc. The hardest part will be picking a color!! I don't know if i want to keep it really clean looking with white and leather or go with some crazy color... Or a little of both. I like the idea of the top picture with the rims and spokes painted a solid color and the rest of the bike white with a leather seat, its a nice medium.  I have a brand of tires picked out and the grips will be a breeze to cut, dye and sew. I'm hoping to find a seat base that i like and cover it myself. Suggestions on colors? or anything bike related actually..

I'm suuppers excited!! I'll keep you posted with pictures;)

Anthropologie - Spring

This video is beautiful.

This Guy...

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”

Windows... All of the kids are looking out them.

Today's view. There's just a lot of things to read.  This is how i've spent the last few mornings, along with working on a few unfinished school assignments. Les Mis. is my new challenge, I've resolved to not letting the size discourage me and truck on in my most lighthearted manner.  I also  have a new project that i'm excited to let you in on very soon! (Perhaps in my next post).

Have a great week!

Birthday Treat: the Cake Pop

//It was my little sisters 6th birthday at  the end of last month- And she requested nothing less than her favorite treat: cake pops. The house full of balloons and children who eventually found games and sidewalk chalk outside. The cake pops where a hit! (Not only with the  kids)...

Directions-
Make your favorite mix or scratch recipe for what every kind of cake or brownie you would like- (The ones above are a gluten free brownie mix from Trader Joes)  Melt your baking chocolate- dip sticks in and set them off to the side to dry. When the cake or brownie you have chosen is done and cooled, crumble it in a bowl and and shape into balls with your hands. (If this isn't working well you can add frosting to the mixture to help). Then place the stick about half way into the middle and press the bottom so the cake doesn't fall off.  You are now ready to dip it into the chocolate- I used a spoon to help steady it as well. Then applie your sprinkles in  generous amounts and let sit- i placed them in the freezer for a minute or two. Then enjoy!

Glitter and Gold

A few new and exciting items in The Shop! Gold and white seems to my new theme. Necklace Listed here.
I was so excited about the shoe project!! I could hardly wait after getting the shoes to get home and start them.. The Back story-  I had bought a bottle of Martha Stewart's metallic gold fabric paint and  wasn't able to use it for the project it was originally meant for. I was then on a search to find its purpose! Stumbling on to some metallic shoes was when the light bulb went on.  You can find my source of idea here- If you're Thinking About... Metallic Shoes The shoes are also available for purchase here - Glitter and Gold Shoes (More pictures to come with my new vintage coat that should be arriving tomorrow. BooYa)

Thanks for stopping in! Have a wonderful Sunday!

March On

Well..

Hello again, remember me? That blogger that comes around from time to time when she feels excited about life and or full of emotion...  Or maybe she just found something to be inspired by. I am back. I could also be back because i had a lovely trip to Starbucks full of coffee this afternoon and didn't really eat much after- I spent most of my time looking at Anthropologie's new spring collection getting excited and designing a few new things for The Shop. I also spent a fair amount of time shopping around on Etsy gathering supplies that will set these designs into motion and its only made the wheel turn faster.. I was only a few moments ago laying in my bead trying to sleep- but I've given up on the idea for now.

Things that currently make me dance-
-Gold  and white
-Buildings
-patterns
-hand printed fabric
-Deep blue
-silk ribbon
-long coats (Wool)
-Fur trees
-paper packaging
-Floral (Spring is COMING)
-Lace

-Duck Boots
-Multi colored sweaters
-Pocket Notebooks

It Was A Weekend Thing

Well.. This past weekend me and my twin took a trip with some other youth to  a cabin in Boone, SC. Lets just say it wasn't all we hoped, partly because we were both sick, the cabins were great but company was shallow. If you look on the bright side i got to see a lovely patch of snow and snap a few pictures in the mountains. I also encountered Grandfather mountain for what i think is the first time- THAT was worth it. That weekend was also a kind of "oohhh, now i get it, that's what i feel" kind of weekend, something along the lines of- Knowing what its like to have a closeness with people is amazing but hard when you don't have it with any current friends, its also really great because it also finds you near kindred people. -“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
― C.S Lewis
